Issue #2: New Developer Communities, Session Keys, and Solana Breakpoint Announced

Plus a roundup of Solana Developer news

GM and welcome to Issue #2!

This week I submitted my final project as the last piece of the Ackee Winter School of Solana.

WSoS was a 6-week educational program with videos (linked below in the news section) followed up by quizzes or practical development assignments.

One of the best things about Solana development is the growing number of resources and communities with a mission to teach and support other developers.

This week saw a few big announcements for programs geared at Solana developers wanting to build their skills or launch applications.

Here are four that stood out:

🎓 Learning Programs for Solana Developers

Solana University Accelerators

SolanaU aims to accelerate the growth of early-stage startups and projects within the Solana ecosystem.

The Accelerator Program will provide intensive technical support, specialized resources and training, and exclusive networking opportunities.

Over a period of 3 months, a core team and top class contributors will guide you to make the most out of your project and take it to the next level.

Web3 Builders Alliance

If you're looking to skill up on Rust, Anchor, and Web3 development, the Web3 Builders Alliance is accepting applications for its May cohort.

WBA is a cohort-based program where you'll learn from well established Web3 developers with access to 24 hour collaboration with other students & graduates.

There will be around 5 hours of live instruction (attendance required) per week.

SolanaFM Builder’s Foundry

SolanaFM, the "friendly" Solana blockchain explorer, is introducing the FM Builder’s Foundry.

The Foundry is a space for builders to get feedback from experts and investors, iterate, and test their apps until they find the right market fit to succeed.

Teams interested in joining can create a ticket in the SolanaFM Discord to be one first projects to take part in the Foundry Roundtable with experts.

The Dojo Initiative

The goal of the Solana Dojo initiative is to turn Devnet into a Dojo: a safe ecosystem for developers and users to learn, tinker and co-create.

Both devs and users will be able to explore and find new protocols, components, and apps safely with less risk while learning about new protocols and standards, leading to a more informed developer community.

As the support and usage of Devnet as a whole increases, an entire Devnet ecosystem on SolDojo.io will be launched to showcase tools, apps and new developments, along with resources for new users.

🔑 Session Keys

Session Keys are unique & temporary identifiers that enables a user to use a dApps without having to sign every single transaction.

When a user connects their wallet they get a session token that pre-approves a set of actions that you define in your app.

Session keys come from the developers behind Wordcel and Gum.

☀️ Solana Breakpoint Location Announced!

🎙️ Listen to This…

Solfate Podcast #13

Nick is joined by @shek_dev, the founder of Wordcel and the Gum protocol.

Shek shares his reasoning for founding Wordcel, the Solana native blogging platform. And how that later evolved into the Gum protocol.

Take a dive into some of the more technical aspects of how Wordcel works under the hood and the potential scaling issues of indexing the Gum protocol once it uses State Compression.

Shek also explains a recent initiative on Solana: session keys.

🗓️ Events

New York BootCamp

New York, NYMay 30

The Solana Foundation New York City Bootcamp is a 8-day offline event with in-person workshops and building alongside core Solana Labs engineers.

There will be various projects to work on throughout the Bootcamp followed by a demo day at the end to showcase your projects.
