🗝️ Phantom Sign in With Solana

Sign In With Solana (SIWS) is a new feature in Phantom Wallet that lets apps authenticate users with a one-click sign in method vs the traditional two step connect and sign message flow.

SIWS is an important alternative to centralized entities like Google, Facebook and X Twitter that control every aspect of our digital identities.

The current approach to signing off-chain messages is inconsistent, as each app has to come up with its own authentication flow, which can result in opaque signature requests and message formats.

These issues make for a confusing UX, and it can even be risky to prove ownership of your wallet address by signing messages.

Sign In With Solana offers a comprehensive solution to these technical challenges with a specification modeled after Sign In With Ethereum (EIP-4361) but extends beyond its capabilities.

With SIWS the responsibility of creating a message to sign shifts from individual dApps to the wallet, resulting in a consistent interface and standardized message format.

Developers can start implementing Sign In With Solana into their apps by following the integration guide.
